| Summary and
Impressions
of the Macrobiotic Community:
The
first macrobiotic practitioner was Quang Van Tran from Veitnam who arrived
in Oklahoma City in the 1980's. Carolyn McGerraugh began teaching
there in 1994. Today she works together with Phyllis Libby
to provide counseling and teaching services. Convincing
anyone in Oklahoma to stop eating beef is a task for a strong willed,
persistent and assertive person. Phyllis Libby certainly fills that
description. Phyllis and Carolyn have
created a small but active community despite resistance by their
non-vegetarian environment. |
