MACROBIOTICS IN THE UNITED STATES: An Assessment of Services and Activities

Study Areas in Kansas: Wichita

Wichita, KS

Map of Wichita

Summary and Impressions of the Macrobiotic Community: Elizabeth Masters started macrobiotics in Wichita about 15 years ago. She left Wichita for a while and then returned about eight years ago and resumed giving classes. But she stopped even this two years ago. Wichita macrobiotics depended entirely on Elizabeth Masters for as long as she remained active. Without her leadership, there are no community activities, and even basic resources seem hard to come by. Dona Baba, inactive for some time, is thinking of starting cooking lessons and counseling services.  Wichita would benefit significantly from this change.
