Summary and Impressions of the Community |
Kristina Turner taught
cooking between 1980 and 1990. She has authored a cookbook titled The
Self-Healing Cookbook. Alexia Mickel
Borough claimed that during the 1970's thousands of people practiced
macrobiotics. Apparently,
there was a macrobiotic center in Seattle, but very little information was found about past macrobiotic
activities in the area. Judging
from the number of macrobiotic people listed in the International
Macrobiotic Directory (by Bob Matteson), we were certain we would find a
very active community. However, nearly all the people listed had either moved away,
or were no longer practicing macrobiotics. |
|
Macrobiotic Community Assessment |
Moderate Services: 1 counselor for basics only & 1 cooking
teacher. Karen Martin is
trying to spark a comeback of macrobiotics in the area.
Dormant Activities: No
activities. There were lots
of activities in the 1980’s and possibly earlier, but there is nobody
around to provide details. |
