Indianapolis
is the capital and the largest city in Indiana. It ranks as
one of the chief centers of manufacturing, transportation and the
distribution of goods in the Midwest. It is sometimes called
the Crossroads of America because many highway and railroad routes
meet here. Its metropolitan area population is 1,380,500. |

Summary and Impressions of the Community |
In
the 1970's, Dr Jean Koehler cured himself of pancreatic cancer
by following a macrobiotic diet. His
successful recovery sparked an active macrobiotic community that
continued until the mid 1980's under the direction of
Ken Meyer and Edwina Prim. Ken began the Stillwater restaurant in
1980 which remained open for 6 years until he left. He and Edwina
began the Indianapolis Education Foundation.
They hosted potluck dinners and visiting speakers until 1986. |
