Lovely, elegant atmosphere in a bustling, lively neighborhood, very relaxed and comfortable restaurant with careful, attentive service. The best hummus I've ever had, and the selection of starters is amazing, salads are fresh and beautifully seasoned. Went with some vegan and gluten-free friends, and everyone was able to have an incredible meal. A superb selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes |

this restaurant really reminds me of Italy, except that I can eat most of what was on offer on the menu! The atmosphere was convivial. It's on a quiet little street which is totally full of medieval charm (impressive for London I think). The staff are friendly and enthusiastic. Their style might be a little slow but I found that very authentic. The food too is very authentic offering secondi and contorni as well as pasta and risotto. We had an excellent bottle of organic prosecco and the whole bill only came to £20 a head for 2 courses plus stuzzichini - I thought that was exceptionally reasonable myself. I would recommend this place to my Italian friends (who are very picky about what they eat) without reserve! A gorgeous vegan/vegetarian slice of Italy in the centre of the city. I've been twice and will definitely be going back! |
Best vegan meal we have had in a long time. We couldn't believe how our taste buds came alive and all we kept saying was wow every time we tried anything. They have not overcomplicated anything and use good quality produce. The chef and waiters were really nice and so enthusiastic about their food and their farm back in Italy where they get a lot of their produce from. A lot of places overcomplicate food and have too much going on but this is pure simplicity at it's best. The test for us is whether we can reproduce this at home but we doubt we can. Can't wait to go back and treat those taste buds again |
I just popped in here to grab a quick bite to eat before heading to the cinema and was amazed at how delicious the food was. I got myself a medium box and the guy serving really filled it up for me and everything I had chosen was great. It was a reasonably priced (£4.95 I think it was for the medium box and it filled me up). Some people may not like the idea of eating out of a box with a wooden fork but I thought it was a lovely little place to stop by and grab something quick to eat. I also got the chocolate cake to go and have to say I was slightly disappointed in it as it was quite bland. Overall I thought it was great delightful little place and can't wait to go back. Also the majority of the food is vegan :) |
They operate a 'bring your own' policy so make sure you take nice bottle of wine with you! We were greeted by the only waiter there (as I said it is a cozy place) who was very welcoming and attentive. The menu was clear, had quite a variety of dishes, including vegan friendly, and the food was wonderful and presented very well indeed. The price was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. In fact upon leaving the restaurant we encouraged two other groups of people who were debating whether to eat there or not to go and have a meal... which they did. |
With its abundance of local art, clutter of rescued furniture and bohemian world music soundtrack, this much loved co-operative café seems a world away from the gloomy officialdom of the nearby MI6 headquarters. Each day sees a different set of chefs taking charge of the small kitchen, which invariably leads to the occasional duff dish, although our most recent lunch of butternut squash soup, vegetarian shepherd's pie and white chocolate tart was healthy and hearty. And, at £9 including coffee, surely one of the best-value three-course meals the capital has to offer. A BYO policy makes the whole experience even more affordable, and the quirky pleasure gardens opposite are the perfect spot for a romantic post-prandial stroll. |

Small cafe with a friendly atmosphere. Nearly all food is vegan and some is organic I think. Open daily 9am to 5pm except Sundays and Wednesdays. Hot and cold dishes. The veggie burgers and salad are delicous (cost about £3.50). List of specials every day (cost about £5). Also do vegan cakes and desserts. |
I've been eating out a lot in London lately (it's great not having to wash the dishes) and have certainly had a varied experience. Some of the old established veggie places I always thought were good just don't hit the mark any more. But thankfully Carnevale is still as good as it always was. I hadn't been there in a couple of years but I'll certainly be returning much quicker and don't know why I haven't been back sooner! The atmosphere is lovely and intimate; it's a small, cozy place. And the food really shone when my friend and I went there a few weeks ago. |
The menu isn't huge but the food was delicious. Even the "bangers and mash" which didn't look too appealing when it came out, tasted amazing. I had the panisse which came with a lovely vegetable sauce and quite a big salad. For dessert the chocolate raspberry roulade was amazing- one of the best vegan cakes I've eaten. |
We went here for an occasion one time and it was absolutely terrible experience. We came out feeling as if we hadn't eaten because nothing seemed worth eating and I've never been to a restaurant feeling like this. The service is extremely bad too. There's no way you can adjust your food according to your taste either because there's no salt or extra spice on the table and when we asked for it they said that they don't give salt. We were appalled with this restaurant and I don't recommend it to anybody at all! |
As a committed vegetarian and lover of Indian cuisine, this is by far my favourite restaurant. The dishes are delicately spiced to real South Indian and Gujerati recipes, and the service good, if a little uninspiring. They offer a wide range of dishes, including a buffet, but for me the Dosas are incomparable. |
Special priced eat-all-you-like buffet on Sunday all day. Delicious fresh Indian food, including a range of home made chutneys. Gets crowded in the evening... but seating also downstairs. |
Lovely, delicious and healthy food, excellent value for money at £5 per person for lunch, £6 for dinner. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, good variety of food such as noodles, rice, seaweeds, chinese salad and much more! |
Delicious food drawing from various areas of India. The staff are unfamiliar with the concept of veganism, so if you are, it's better to state that you want your dishes made without ghee, butter, milk and yoghurt. The food is lovely and two can eat for around £15. I recommend the yellow dal or samosa chaat. Definitely worth visiting regularly. |
My Indian friend introduced me with this place. I have been to this place 3-4 times now, though still bit struggling asthere is no English explanation on the menu...But I can tell you the Paneer Tikka is excellent.. I love it ! It's grilled Indian cheese served on the sizzling plate. |
What a great place... homemade pure vegetarian indian food. Wonderful tarka dhal, wonderful mango lassi, wonderful paneer dosa, wonderful vegetable korma, wonderful staff, wonderful take away... I am not a big fan of indian sweets, but Delhiwala is also very famous for their variety and quality of sweets. If one day happens that I come in and find that they have started selling dhal makhani, that will be the happiest day in my entire life |
Fantastic Indian veggie food. You gotta try it! I recommend the paneer samosas. |
I have been to Desi Bites three times it's best place to eat if you fancy pure veg indian food. Pure authentic and best test ever had in UK. I recommended to every veg. Food lovers please visit once and find the difference between other indian rest. and desi bites. Staff are the best people |
Good and cosy interior. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Food was tasty, and prompt. The service was quick and overall I loved it. Situated next to the station makes it an ideal place for an after work meal. |
Had lunch with a friend here today. They only had a few vegan friendly, but it was enough. The staff were friendly and the place was clean. This is a good place to escape to in the middle of the day, they do a nice selection of teas too. |
Liked this place a lot. My boyfriend and I went here because it was one of the few places in the area open on sunday night. There were mostly women there, and it is a gay/lesbian establishment, but we felt totally comfortable and welcome eating there. Food was very good, good menu size. Very casual, deli/cafe feel, with a bar downstairs. |
Decent vegetarian cafe in Covent Garden which makes a nice place to rejuvenate yourself after or in between all that shopping. Food portions were OK, not particularly small or big. Prices were reasonable for central London. Some tables were too close and it might feel a little cramped. Will definitely go back when I visit London again. |
This is a lovely little homely place to eat. I've been here a couple of times now and I've enjoyed myself each time. Food is delicious, served in cool clay pots, lovely staff and food is a decent price. It is very limited of seating space (benches) and is busy most of the time so you will end up seating with other people. |
Our family are now regulars at GoKula's acoustic music evenings, a very enjoyable place to meet up with friends and make new ones with it's chilled out atmosphere... and the music is excellent and varied to boot, with many artists playing great original material! |
The food is tasty, decent portions, very reasonably priced with a lot of choice, even for vegans (my husband and I are vegan). The hot wraps are my particular favourite along with the soya cappuchinos which are the best I've ever had. The owners Bhajahari, Ros and Mikey are very friendly and welcoming and there are interesting second hand books and CDs available to browse and buy. So happy this delightful cafe has opened near to us! |
I've walked past this place so many time without even a second thought until a friend suggested getting coffee and a sarnie from here. I mean, if the terror of being on Broadway Market and not going to Climpton and Sons for coffee isn't too much to handle this place is actually lovely. Great selection of sandwiches, teas (including flowering ones), coffee and other treats. |
Like tea? You'll love Gossip. I'm not really a fan of your bog standard builder's tea, which, in my country, I recall referring to as 'Gumboot tea', but am a bona fide herbal tea freak. Nettle for detoxing, peppermint for relaxing, and white tea for its antioxidants; it is my personal belief that there is a tea for every ailment and I shamelessly consider it my personal mission to drink my way through them. |
The food at Green Note is organic and, although it's vegetarian, it is inventive enough for meat eaters to enjoy. Although this is slightly more expensive than food in the average bar, it is high quality and nicely presented, portions are often not very large so expect to order a few dishes (prices range from about £2-£5 for individual portions of tapas). The dishes are Mediterranean style, ranging from tapas to main courses, salads, and desserts. It is worth coming early to eat before watching the bands |
This is one of my favourite places to eat in Camden. They do really tasty, cheap, fresh burgers. I love that everything they have is vegetarian, so you don't have to worry about what's been on the grill before. |
The burgers taste a lot like stuffing but i like stuffing and it goes surprisingly well with peanut butter and banana. i like this place its cheap fun food on the go. i crave the stuff burgers as soon as i get out the tube! ;)whole earth drinks and soya shakes available too. the staff are always friendly but cleanliness is questionable although it could just be the Camden feel. |
I just thought I'd let everyone know that I really like this place. I've been to the one in Soho many times for lunch and will keep going back. It's always been quite busy for dinner, so I thought I'd try booking for a large group of friends, I was told that they don't take booking in the soho branch but the newly opened (this was a little while ago) branch in the city would be happy to take our reservation. When we got there, we discovered we had the whole upstairs bit to ourselves (about twenty of us I think). I can honestly say it was one of the best nights out I've organised. Good food, very friendly and attentive staff, excellent value and to have the whole area to ourselves just made the evening. |
Thought I would try something different for lunch today, so wondered down to Hummus Bros. Ordered a small Hummus with vegetable salad for takeaway. Looked appealing and so hurried back to the office to eat my something different for lunch. However, as I sit at my desk eating my lunch I can say that the hummus came as somewhat of a disappointment. I have tasted better hummus and this just did not cut the mark. Will not be venturing out at lunch to Hummus Bros again. Disappointed. |
It's great. The food is fabulous. The best hummus, and felafel you're likely to get, and at a great price. We love to go to the Soho one and sit in the window watching people go by whilst stuffing ourselves with some seriously tasty food. |

I cannot sing this restaurant's praises enough! For the vegetarian seeking some filling, wholesome and delicious food at rock-bottom prices, you couldn't find better than Indian Veg. The food consists of an all-you-can-eat buffet with a variety of rice, curries, salads and sundries, all freshly bought ingredients from the markets outside. The service isn't amazing, but for 350p you can't really complain! The restaurant itself has a quirky atmosphere, always busy, with pro-vegetarian material adorning the walls for you to read as you devour your meal. I don't know anyone who has visited and hasn't become addicted! |

Been here a few times and I agree it is slightly shabby. .. But this is not the reason why I go there ! The food is cooked fresh on the spot with fresh spices and no stock sauces that most restaurants just add a few spices to. The food is general Indian and south Indian vegetarian . The chilli paneer is to die for and the papri chat is superb. Service is quick and efficient although you have to take yr order up to the counter. It has been going a long time whilst everything else around has changed. By the way .. I am a Pakistani meat lover !!!!!!! An institution !! |

Prior to arriving, my girlfriend and I were quite excited about Jai Krishna. It had been highly recommended to us. We brought a bottle of Bourgogne to compliment the meal. We ordered a starter which took about 25 minutes to arrive. Once it had arrived, the potato stuffing was just below luke warm. It almost had a 'reheated in the microwave' feel to it. One of the chutneys served with it was actually warmer. I had a hard time finishing it and left my plate half finished. Although my girlfriend was disappointed with the starter as well, she finished it up due to the fact we waited so long for it in the first place and she was starving. I didn't let this get me down and was still looking to the main course. All that being said, we were quite happy with the bill. The food is very inexpensive. Although the food did take a while, the people working at the establishment were very pleasant. I think a sure sign that the food at an ethnic restaurant is going to be disappointing is if none of the patrons are of that ethnicity. That definitely was the case here. |

This restaurant is excellent for both vegetarians and vegans. There's an extensive menu, the food is delicious and authentic and extremely good value for money. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the staff friendly and the decor is simple and modern. Highly recommended. |
Delicious food that is very reasonably priced. A filling meal for two can be only £15. Has a vast menu including dishes from all over India. My favourites include Shahi Panir and Chilli Mogo. Yum! It has a modern but homely atmosphere with very friendly staff. BYO but try the lassi's! Also an Indian Sweet counter with fresh jelebi and ghatia at the weekend. |
When I first visited Jashans some 8 years back when the food was fresh and very tasty. As the years have gone on the standard of food and service has just spiraled out of control! Service now is terrible, dishes arrive at your table willy nilly in no particular order! We ordered 3 starters and between all of us we almost finished 2 starters and out came the 3rd. |
We went their to dine with our American friends who were very fond of Indian food. The food was very bland with no taste at all. Though they try to show that everything is prepared fresh but all the curries were looking and tasting like they were prepared a few days back. |
There are savoury and sweet pastries, a good range of great looking cakes, some of which are vegan/ gluten free and chocolates which you can buy individually. There is also bread. I have had a savoury pastry and croissant which were quite decent. I also tried the cherry brownie but it wasn't quite for me. It might have been a little bit dry but also I may just not have been in the mood for cherries as I actually wanted a plain brownie. I had a hot chocolate which was fine. They have soy milk which you just can't take for granted in the UK! |
This place is great! The food is delicious. There's three sizes to choose from (with the combo meals), the smallest being well suited for a filling lunch. The price is unbeatable; I suppose the street market stall context confers added value down to the customer for surely there's less overhead here. Staff are friendly. Only open for lunch (till 2:00). I'm making this one a regular stop. |
The food here is excellent, the staff are very friendly and it's extremely good value for money. Paneer wraps are served in addition to the vegetarian curry dishes on Thursdays and Fridays. |
Mantra is a real find. A good value, cosy family-run restaurant, it stands out from the chains and overpriced eateries that populate Dean Street. Its blend of Asian and Western influences works really well. Don't expect your average curry menu either. Mantra is 100% vegetarian, yet tellingly, the majority of diners aren't. They just enjoy tasty, expertly cooked food. A versatile menu lists creative dishes such as curried Bombay potato in pitta bread lined with chutney, as well as traditional meals such as saag aloo and palak paneer. The veggie chicken curry is fantastic. Good pre-theatre meal deals. Smiley service. Top marks all round. |
Have been coming here for years and it still stands as the best falafel I've ever had. The service is very friendly too. Get one to go and then run round the corner and eat it in the church yard on a bench with the squirrels. |
This one is cleaner and more spacious than others I've been to (Netherlands, Paris, Belgium). The food comes in fairly large amount if you're keen on the healthy accompaniments a la salad bar, tastes good, and is priced sensibly. Place makes for a good lunch or dinner |
Really good food at the best price. Its so cheap that I feel I should order more. Thali is £2:50 and is a complete meal. Really tasty food thats not too hot. |
First of all - the food here is excellent. It arrived quickly and the standard was impeccable. We both had an amazing mushroom pie with real chunky fries and pies. Desserts were equally impressive. The downside to Mildred's is that it's tiny and cramped and YOU CANNOT BOOK A TABLE. We went down at about half-seven on a Tuesday night and waited for about 45 minutes for a table for two. You must leave time to wait. |
I absolutely love this place. When ever I go into town with a close friend or member of family I take them to Mildred's. It's a nice classy place and the food is fantastic, great selection for vegans. Bill does mount up but that's because I always end up having a 3 course meal as the foods so good Soup of the day and the dumpling starters are amazing. For the main meal I always end up going for the Burger of the day as it never disappoints. So great to go somewhere that does tasty mouth watering VEGAN deserts. They also do a great selection of vegan drinks and is nice to go to a restaurant and have a glass of vegan wine. A few down sides would be some that it very busy in the evening and the tables are small and quite close together so you overhear other peoples conversations. Also some of the staff can be a bit moody. |
Some of the best falafel I've ever had - served with an amazing spicy sauce and a slice of eggplant. The owner is friendly and the price, especially in London, is more than reasonable. |
Mr Falafel has a really good range of different Falafel wraps to choose from (and food without Falafels if you prefer). Everything is freshly made, no microwaves in sight. There is a video camera on the immaculate food preparation area if you are the suspicious type but there is no need. The main thing is that the food is delicious. Really nice flavors, well mixed. Healthy too, with lots of salads and most of it is vegan. |
Mildreds has great food, but the staff are always rude and dismissive. This sister cafe four doors down has much nicer staff and is cheaper too. Although it does some of the same main means as Mildreds, its forte is its plentiful and universally excellent desserts. The white chocolate and pistachio cheesecake I've had maybe six time and is probably the finest dessert ever created. If you're tired of the cheesecake (or if you want to give your arteries a varied challenge) then if the chocolate raspberry torte is available when you visit then do try that too with pouring cream (soya if you wanna keep it vegan). All things considered, easily the best cafe in London. |
The great food of Mildred’s on the go or in a more relaxed casual atmosphere. good choices and discounted prices for taking away. a big thumbs up. |
One of my favourite local cafes. Now that I've moved from Chalk farm I miss it terribly. Part cafe, part food shop. Super cute atmosphere with wooden tables, chairs, magazines, just very comfy and warm. Great music. The owner, a Kurdish/Korean man is super nice - always gives us hot chocolate or soup samples in little shot glasses. I love their soy hot chocolate and how they have no surcharge on soy milk. |
I really enjoy my soups, especially on a downer of a day. I got a bowl of their soup of the day, which was a mushroom rice with bits of corn and red pepper and fresh herbs. The mushrooms were nice and chunky and the soup base was thick and delish. A bit of brown pita on the side and a freshly squeezed oj and I was set for lunch. |

Decided to give this place a visit and was initially disappointed by the lack of vegan dishes, less than a third of the menu is vegan (and only one dessert, a rather average chocolate cake) and, as this place prides itself on its 'carbon/eco friendliness' then logically it should be all vegan. The foods we tried, Spicy Noodles and a Field Mushroom Burger, were tasty, though the burger bun seemed rather stale. The fries were average but the portion was miniscule and very expensive at £2.25 for around ten fries!! I still would have given this place four stars but the drinks available are shocking, no fruit juice and, apart from water, just 'Coca-Cola' manufactures soft drinks!! This in a place that claims to care for the planet is just wrong and until this is changed this place is really just a mockery of what it claims to stand for. There are hot drinks but I didn't try them as others had already told me they have no soya milk. To recap the food is fine but expensive for what it is and something must be done about the soft drinks. |

i went to this restaurant expecting some good food, good service and a pleasant time. Conclusion is that i received none of the above. The food was really poor. The chef was terrible and delivered under par food. It was of course not restaurant standard food. If the food isn't good at a restaurant then there is no point in going to that restaurant and you think how this restaurant is still surviving when their are fierce competition around. The service was decent and the staff was efficient at their job. They were polite to speak to and quick with the food. The restaurant in a whole was really boring. Overall for food i would rate it 3/10, Service i would rate 7/10 and the atmosphere i would rate 3/10. Overall rating of whole night was 4/10. |
Amazing food and delicious. went there and the staff were courteous and really tried their best to please. |
Service is friendly. Value is fine with a takeaway lunch at around six pounds. Hot foods available: rice, dhal, chick pea curry and a sort of veggie sausage casserole that has Mediterranean type vegetables in it. The hot food was kind of like a sort of home cooked food, pretty average as opposed to super special, but it was still pretty tasty. |

A perfect place to visit if you are "missing India". Let them know if you are vegan & they will veganize many of the dishes for you. Food is usually excellent. |
Food at Rani is incredible and above average! The quality is incredible and they use the finest and freshest ingredients. The staff are amazing and the food is guaranteed to impress even those meat eaters who don't enjoy their veg. There is so much choice whether eating the buffet, or off the al la carte menu. Definitely give this restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed when you visit this wonderful gem tucked away in a road just minutes away from Finchley Central Station. Enjoy! |
I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. We chose a la carte, expecting it to be fresher than the buffet. The onion bhajis were luke warm, mostly made of batter with almost no onion. I think they were heated up, not made freshly. The two main dishes we ordered both seemed to have the same sauce on them, and the chunks of aubergine in one were huge. |
I used to come here regularly before I discovered the nearby Chutney’s (also reviewed), but I am still very fond of this restaurant for its lunchtime buffet and especially its syrup sponge balls. The Ravi Shankar is spacious, with wooden tables and benches, but still pretty packed so get there early. The food is of course wonderful, and all vegetarian. If not having the buffet, there is a wide choice of dosas, which here seem thicker and more filling than at neighbouring restaurants. The only downside to this restaurant is that there is segregated seating at lunchtime, so that non-buffet eaters are not allowed to sit with buffet customers - so that if one of your party doesn’t want the buffet you have to split up. But the buffet is pretty special and it would be silly not to try it. |
A deservedly popular vegetarian Indian restaurant, practically a legend among North Londonites. My companions had the day's special but I settled for a Masala Dosa which is indeed a lovely thing. Does a buffet at lunchtime. There are several restaurants along Drummond Street but this one has a special place in many hearts. |
This restaurant was my father's favourtie place, god bless him and I cannot find the words to express how wonderful the dishes taste starting from samosas to thalis to pani puri, you name it, they have it!. The family have run this business for many years and have grown from strength to strength and may so for many years.......Recommend it immensely!! |
Ronak's is the best I have been to. Not just for the restaurant, it also provides the best catering for weddings. They catered for my wedding and the guests remembered the food more than the wedding, great place, love it |

A long established, family run restaurant on Kingsbury High Street serving a diverse variety of Gujarati, Jain and Indo-Chinese food. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a full dinner, Rose Veg will please. Their Bombay chaat is a delicious tongue teaser and their extensive Indo-Chinese menu will be sure to please all those looking for something a little different. From their drinks menu, their super yummy chiku milk shake hits the spot and is a nice alternative to the standard sweet, salty or mango lassi. I've also had the ragra patties, aloo papri chaat and dahibhala chaat and they're all excellent and the best thing about all of them are the portion sizes. They're crazy huge and fit for a king! My absolute favourite things to order at this restaurant are their wide selection of paratas which you can have them make-to-measure by specifying what stuffing's you want added. |
My favorite indian place, I have enjoyed EVERY dish. The portions are big and very affordable. The only thing that I would like to see in the future are vegan desserts. The ones in the display case are sorely tempting, teasing is not nice! Please have them in the future. *puss in boots eyes* |
Better than the usual indian restaurants that only have greasy spicy vegetables on the menu. Sagar (which is a vegetarian restaurant) has more to offer and has a vegan menu as well as vegetarian. |
I went there 4 times last week, with husband and same friends (not vegan). They've a Great Vegan Menù. The staff is very helpful and they have a really Great South Indian Vegetarian food. |
We each chose a starter - Chris had the samosas while I had some rice and lentil dumplings called kanchi idli. Be warned - these starters are filling and come in large portions so one to share would be ample! We then shared a number of dishes - two small curries (one a kootu which was reminiscent of Thai cooking, the other a more traditional aloo gobi), a delicious dosa stuffed with a potato and onion mixture and some basmati rice. Flavours were good, especially the dosa, but the food could have been warmer. With a large Kingfisher beer each and a couple of poppadums eaten while we perused the menu, the bill came to £36 - good value for this part of town. |
This is a great vegan/vegetarian restaurant if you like Southern Indian cuisine. It's a really delightful place. Fastidiously clean and very friendly. I was such a pig I went twice in one week. |
The food was absolutely fantastic! As a vegetarian it is always great to find a place where you have a wide choice of dishes but a non-vegetarian would be equally happy here. It is not a place for a romantic dinner but if you are just looking for great Indian food at a great price this is the place. We felt like we had discovered something very special. We had children with us and they were made to feel very welcome. |

There is nothing like this Restaurant in Brighton so I along with my family make the 120 mile round trip to taste true Indian Vegetarian food in this very friendly family run restaurant. The Dhosa's are as good as they come, but the Daal soup that comes with the Dhosa is the best I have ever tasted, the curry's all Vegan (except paneer dish's) are all made fresh and have their own individual flavour and taste and can be spiced to your request. As for the starters like Narirobi Bhajia, and the best Daal Bhajia you will ever taste, here you are tasting Pure Vegetarian food at its natural best. |

Seven of us ate much more than we should have in this cheap-and-cheerful cafe-style restaurant, and the bill came to under £70 (before we added a tip). The speciality is dhosas - large crisp pancakes - and they were extremely good, as were our starters which included cauliflower cooked in an interesting bright red batter. The waiter was polite and helpful and, even though vegan dishes aren't identified on the menu, he was readily able to tell us which food was vegan (and quite a lot of it is). The place isn't licensed but they do fresh juices, and bring tap water to the table with your having to ask |
This place is right outside the station ... so you are spared the walk required in east ham ... and serves decent and very cheap (its difficult to get to over 10 quids a head even after desserts) tamil fare. The mini idlis, sambhar and rasam are nice, the meal thali has a lot of food and is very filling, and the dosas are rather large. Uttapam is one of my favourite dishes ... i have found it made well here on one occasion, and not so well on another. The desserts, except the gulab-jamuns, were a bit of a let down ... but overall its a pretty nice place to come for cheap grub once in a while. |
This is an extremely popular restaurant with customers representing the cultural diversity of the area. Cutlery is available on request but finger eating is traditional with many locals and meals are generally spiced hotter than usually expected to match local tastes. The choice of meals is very wide with well over fifty different dishes on the menu and the kitchen is situated centrally to the restaurant behind glass panels so preparation can be observed. |
I was tempted to visit the restaurant after reading such great reviews. I have to say that i was not at all dissapointed. The food is spiced just right and the masala dosa is a treat on the tastebuds. I hadn’t eaten this type of food before and I’m so glad i found Saravana Bhavan as I’m now a regular. The staff are efficient and helpful and the food comes to the table quickly, piping hot and tasty. Best of all is the price, its almost an injustice to pay so little for such great food. Atmosphere is always buzzing and there are always people in the queue to sample the delights on offer. I am vegetarian so its great for me but my friends and family aren't. However they all agreed who needs meat when vegetables can taste like this, Top marks |
Shahee Belpoori is by far one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. I am not a vegetarian but the food is fabulous! Beats the usual "Chicken Tikka Marsala" any day! The service in the restaurant is excellent, and also a place where you can dine alone and still feel extremely welcome. Their delivery service is always prompt. |
We took a total of 77 primary school pupils here whilst visiting the Temple on two separate dates. On both occasions the food was good, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the service was excellent and the restaurant was lovely and clean. We would highly recommend a visit to the Shayona and look forward to visiting next year. |
I love Shayona Restaurant. I have taken many of my friends here and none have been disappointed. The food is excellent and the service is superb. All the waiting staff are extremely friendly and the food is carefully prepared and very well presented. If you are in search of an Indian restaurant that is a bit more refined and still not too expensive, this is definitely the place to go. |

The food they served is terrible, it's soaked with oil and far too salty. There's mostly soya stuff and almost no vegetables. The atmosphere is hectic and the staff very polite. I will never eat in any of those Tai veg type of buffet, they all taste the same : horrible. |
Trust Me! it's all rubbish food serving in any Tai Buffet!!! I was working there for 1 year and i know very well how we cook and prepare for every dish. Basically you can never see a proper chef in the restaurant because every staff inside has to learn how to "COOK" the dishes. There have no proper kitchen as usual orient restaurant. Most of the foods are just simply re-heat in microwave or deep fried, add salt and serve on...(Including the broccoli that you might feel delicious and fresh.... ) Beside that, the so call "Fried Rice" are made once or twice a week for few days usage. They'll only reheat in the microwave and serve, the same way of cooking goes to other noodles. |

The Gallery Cafe is a unique Vegetarian and Vegan cafe situated near the Museum of Childhood and Museum gardens in Bethnal Green. The Cafe provides wonderful value for money food, the best coffee for miles around, an airy environment with windows looking out onto a beautiful English garden and a wonderful environment to meet and hang out with friends, or work (we have free WIFI) in a friendly community environment |

I really loved the atmosphere here. Its really laid back and comfortable, with a nice crowd. Had a pot of tea, and then later on gave in to a pizza (forgot the name..but one with spicy vegan bacon?). It wasn't amazing, but given that it was vegan, i thought they'd done a pretty good job (hard for me to compare to other vegan pizzas since i don't usually eat that kind of stuff). |

We stumbled on this place by accident one lunchtime and had a delicious meal consisting of a hot dish accompanied by very fresh salad. Creative dishes, quiet atmosphere and good prices. Only negative was that staff were a bit off hand, but it didn't detract too much from the experience. |
The Gate is a smart place to eat. I was in London for a work meeting so ate here on my own. The place was busy, and quite noisy, but the service was attentive. The vegan choices were quite low in numbers for all three courses, although they were all very tasty. I'm also sure the two vegan friendly on the main courses were the same ones that had been on there (tangine, tortilla wraps) nearly two years ago when I was last in London and ate here. The vegan desserts were not very inspiring, but their ice cream was definitely home made and was very tasty. In summary, nice, quite expensive so good for a celebration, but could do better on the vegan front. |

They have a great selection of vegan and vegetarian foods. It's inconvenient that it is take-away only, yet, if you ask for your container with no lid you will get twice as much food so it's worth the hassle. There is a park nearby to sit in to eat. It's a good deal for the price which was around 5 pounds. I would actually give the food quality 5 stars. The split pea dal with rice and greens is delicious. There is a great variety to choose from for both vegans and vegetarians; however, the vegan food is not marked. I'm allergic to egg and dairy so I hate to have to ask about every item. They do have yummy vegan and gluten-free desserts which are marked. Overall a great little vegetarian eatery on Portobello Road. |

This daytime café, inside an art exhibition building, has been serving up wholesome vegetarian brunches and lunches since September 2008. Customers press a buzzer to enter what was once the basement of a late Victorian school; the heavy flagstones and pillars give it a crypt-like feel. But the service is cheery and uplifting, and the dishes freshly prepared with real care using high-quality ingredients. |

We stopped in here for lunch one day on a whim. Good selection of vegan friendly. Excellent vegan cheesecake. It's nice to be able to choose to sample a bit of everything. Good flavors, some old standbys and some unique salads. The menu changes. Nicely decorated and friendly staff. |
The food quality and diversity is fabulous. My meat eating husband wanted to return there a second time. Love that you can just take a bite of two of an item. |
Superb menu. Fine chefs. Fun live music. Really good value for money. Eager and obliging staff; very willing to make veggie dishes without yogurt, milk, ghee. |
I visited Vanilla Black a few months ago and overall had a bad experience. The service was really good but when the food tastes so bad and then you're charged so much for it, it really leaves you with bad views. Whatever you order comes out as a boring white pile of tasteless mush. Both myself and my brother ordered different things and every dish was tasteless and boring. It is an expensive place so I would avoid until they reevaluate the dishes. |
I fail to understand good reviews for this place. I went there for my birthday and was incredibly disappointed. The portions were tiny and everything had a sickly sweet taste. The lacklustre mish-mash of cuisines were deeply uninspiring and a meal for two came to over £90. In London there are many veggie restaurants that can do so much more at half the price or even less than that. |
The food was at best bland, dripping with grease and often cold. Some dishes in the buffet were utterly foul and inedible. After a couple of mouthfulls we asked for a refund but were shouted at and told that as none of the other customers were complaining, we had no right to. We were refused a full refund and after agreeing to pay the price of one take out meal instead, were tricked into paying for 2 (as once we had handed over a 10 pound note there was no way we were getting the right amount of change back..). If their attitudes hadnt been so aggressive the less than mediocre food could have been forgiven and this review probably not written. |
I've been coming to the restaurant for many years and while the quality of the food may have varied a bit over time (I assume chefs have changed) the proprietor is very personable and always extends a warm welcome. The diversity of choice means that I can visit two or more times a week and have an enjoyable but different meal (or takeaway) each time. Of all the Chinese restaurants offering vegetarian food in Harrow, most of the others not being purely vegan, this is definitely my favourite! |
First visit last night. Really excellent. Tiny restaurant, rather brightly lit, but spic and span. Welcoming hostess. Scrumptious food. Beforehand, had qualms about veggie food pretending to be 'meat' but it's wonderful. Will certainly visit many times again. Pricing is reasonable. |

Fantastic. We went here on my Birthday (Valentines Day) this year as my daughter was dancing in London!! Hunted out a local (to Tooting) veggie restaurant on veggie heaven in order to meet up with finally members, who are not vegetarians. The food is amazing. Home cooked food and huge salads to die for!! This was lovely and not expensive at all (especially for London, on Valentines Day!!!) Would visit more regularly if we were closer and will definitely be visiting next time we're in London!!! |
Good staff? Excellent, have NEVER found others as good. Quality of food? Excellent, fantastic, very FRESH. Tastes to suit all Atmosphere? Quiet, fun, light, friendly, |

Conveniently located behind the theatres on Haymarket the restaurant is nicely furnished and the service was very good. But the food was tasteless. I ordered the dal saag and it was quite a small portion as well. I also wasn't asked how hot I wanted it. I think more spice would have added a bit more flavour. |
A little bit expensive for what you get, and some of the dishes didn't taste quite right. Still, even mediocre South Indian food is pretty good. But Sagar in Hammersmith is both better and cheaper. |
I ordered a nut cutlet and was assured it was a main course. I was charged a main course price but only a tiny cutlet and nothing else was served. Waiters were not helpful either. I had to go to another restaurant for my lunch!! I've had to give it 2 stars because it's totally vegetarian but really it shouldn't have any. |
My aunt and I ate at the Woodlands while in London. I had CHANNA MASALA- Tender chick peas simmered in a delicious tomato & light masala sauce. Ideally eaten with a bathura. I did order the bathura, which is a VERY LARGE fluffy bread. All of it was delicious. Indian is my favorite ethnic food and enjoy trying different restaurants. |

I had a 12 hour layover in London, I was excited about finding a vegetarian restaurant near the British museum. I located World Food Cafe through Happy Cow and it was a bad experience. The server was unhelpful and unfriendly (later, much to my surprise, I learned she was the owner), I asked her for recommendations since it was my first time in this establishment, she was in no mood to suggest anything. I sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen, one of the prepares was constantly blowing her nose into a tissue then handling food with her unwashed hands, she definitely had a cold. I observed my server cut a pie, lick her fingers then cut more pie... and so on, she might as well been licking the entire dish. My food was brought to me and set down abeam the empty seat next to me, it didn't make sense but my server was oblivious to most things around her. The food did not taste good and I was never asked how I was doing, I actually was ignored the whole time... and I was the only customer in the restaurant! I signaled my server to pay by waving my credit card, she would not take it unless I stood directly in front of the cash register even though I was only sitting a few feet away. My bill was 9.90, she refused to take my credit card because the bill was less than 10. It was an all around bad experience and my excitement of being in London for the day quickly evaporated. |

Cool location overlooking Neal's Yard near Covent Garden. We had a beetroot salad and Egyptian falafel to share. It was tasty and well priced. The service wasn't particularily friendly but no complaints here. Would go back. |

Zilli Green offers quality vegetarian food in an atmosphere that, I agree with previous reviews, resembles more a café than a restaurant. We ate here on a Sunny but chilly October day – all of the front part of the restaurant was open so in fact we had to eat with our coats on. The service was ok, nothing extraordinary, but the food was well presented and tasty. The prices were reasonable and overall I would recommend this as a good veg option in the SoHo. |

Went here for dinner after exploring Soho. The good reviews convinced me to try. This place is amazing! We had the butternut squash soup, beetroot gnocchi stuffed with blue cheese, savoury crumble, and the dessert sampler. All very good. The flavors were well paired. Reasonably priced, good portion sizes, vegan friendly, friendly staff and quick service. Vegan desserts are not always well, good. Their desserts are spot on. |
